Hi, I'm Joshua. I intend this blog to be for my own personal catharsis. My official life is located in the other parts of this website, but in the Blogs, I'll mostly write about things personally important to me.

I guess first up is a little bit about my tastes!

• Literature: Isaac Asimov's Foundation and 刘慈欣's Three Body Problem

• Genres: history, philosophy, scifi, and fantasy (sometimes romance? but not of the YA variety)

• Cinema: Interstellar, Star Wars, and The Truman Show

• Recording: Zimerman's interpretation of the Larghetto from Chopin Piano Concerto 1

• Food: buffet-style hotpot with friends (or, absent that, whatever's nearby, fast, and cheap)

• Hobbies: debate, ping pong, Figgie, poker, and apparently even blogging now

FWIW, I really love music. One of my most memorable experiences has been to see Hamilton at Broadway, and I hope to visit more often (maybe once I escape the destitute life of a college student). I'm also lucky to have heard Trifonov's Prokofiev live with the SF Philharmonic, and my life goals include witnessing one of Krystian Zimerman's iconic performances.

On a last but unrelated note, my girlfriend and I raise the cutest bunny named Hippo — she's a fuzzy (Holland) lop from Seattle, WA who is just perfect in every way. She was born in July 2023, so (as of this writing) she's still pretty young! I hope she experiences her best life with us.
